With Halloween getting closer, you may be searching for healthy alternatives to those sugary, high calorie and fatty treats so often found at this time. While it may seem impossible or even “dangerous” to serve or give out healthy treats at Halloween, I’m here to tell that it is possible to have fun and eat healthy, too.
If you’re planning a Halloween party for family and friends, consider making the focus games and fun while serving up some of these healthier treats as well.
Perfectly Wholesome Party Snacks
- Roasted pumpkin seeds
- Pumpkin Bread
- Apple Bites
- Caramel Apples (Yes, this recipe is fairly healthy)
- Orange-colored Applesauce
- Halloween Salad (mandarin oranges, dark grapes, and raisins)
- Popcorn
- Rice-Krispies Treats (cut into Halloween shapes)
- Apple Cider
- Halloween-themed Pretzels
- Orange-colored Popcorn Balls
While it may seem like inviting trouble to hand out anything other than candy to trick-or-treaters, you can try different ideas until you find an alternative that works for you.

- Individually Packaged Raisins or Dried-Plums
- Individual Cereal Boxes
- Stickers, Temporary Tattoos, Glow Bracelets, Pencils-other non-food items
- Juice boxes
- Fruit Leather
- Granola Bars or Protein Bars
- Halloween-themed Pretzels
- Fortune Cookies
- Packages of Hot Cocoa
- Packaged Rice-Krispies Treats
Halloween doesn’t have to mean cavities and belly-aches if you provide healthier treats. With just a little planning and patience, you can have a healthy heyday this Halloween.
