April Fool’s Day– Prankster’s Paradise

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Get ready: It’s that time of year again. No one is safe.

I am all for a joke or laugh. Remember  ”Bloopers and Practical Jokes?” I LOVED watching it (I am aging myself;  maybe “Punked” or “Scare Tactics” are better references). All of these shows pulled off elaborate pranks and made everyday April Fool’s Day.  But in all reality, pranks that cause an emotional reaction from the victim in order to complete the effect should, in my opinion, be avoided . Not only is it cruel and potentially dangerous, but it sets a poor example for our children.

If even the hardcore April Fool’s pranksters could save it up for the one day, there are some pranks that are funny and appropriate for all audiences.

  • Gluing down a quarter and watching people attempt to pick it up?
  • Switching the salt and sugar?
  • Changing the alarm clock?

These are just a few of many harmless pranks. I believe it is important that as we set examples for our children and emphasize the differences in magnitude of pranks. We also need to teach them when enough is enough. Even so-called harmless pranks can go too far.

I found pages upon pages about the history of April Fool’s. Since I am a huge fan of anything that adds educational value and is fun at the same time, imagine my surprise when I found this: Don’t Know Much About April Fool’s Day

What was your most memorable  April Fool’s prank? Either as the prankster or the prankee?

Have a happy and safe April Fool’s Day!

April Fools’ Day

Trick the kids with this Muffin "Ice Cream Cone" on April Fools Day.

April Fools’ Day is coming up and I have a few ideas to make you quite the prankster with your kids.  Use these ideas to keep them on their toes for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!  To start, why not have one of these ice cream cones sitting out for breakfast?  (Even as I’m sitting here typing this, my 4-year old is exclaiming, “I want an ice cream cone JUST LIKE THAT,” and pointing to the picture above!)  But they’ll be fooled for sure when the sink their teeth into it and discover it is a muffin iced with cream cheese. If your kids don’t like cream cheese, you can use whipped cream or peanut butter instead.
